Through merger of 4 towns and 2 villages of Hatta village, Shirane town, Ashiyasu village, Wakakusa town, Kushigata town, and Kousaitown, Minami-Alps City was created on the April 1st of 2003.
The city is surrounded by abundant nature, and located in the western part of Yamanashi prefecture at the foot of Minami-Alps Mountains.The population count is now over 73,000.
